Bottom line: get the Samsung Galaxy Watch 9 with LTE ($429.99).
It is the cheapest watch here that has an official way to map a button to any app. You double-press the Home button. It works on Google Fi under Fi's "Galaxy Watch5 and newer" rule.
Runner-up: Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 ($699.99). Same button setup, much bigger battery, but twice the price.
Pixel Watch 5 is the best-reviewed watch here. But it has no official setting to map a button to your own app.
Two-way voice check: the pick does not change. All three Samsungs have a speaker, LTE calling, and a button that can open your app. No one has published a test of a live AI voice app on any of these watches that I could find. So plan to test it yourself.
LTE: the watch has its own cell connection, so it works without your phone nearby.
Fi: Google Fi, your phone carrier.
AOD: always-on display. The screen stays dimly on all the time. It uses more battery.
Wear OS: Google's watch software. All watches here run it.
Sideload: install an app from outside the Play Store. It takes extra setup steps.
Two-way voice: you talk and the watch talks back, like a phone call. The app uses the speaker and the microphone (mic) at the same time.
Foreground service: a task an Android app keeps running, with a notice on screen, so the system does not stop it.
Echo cancellation: removes the speaker's own sound from the mic, so the assistant does not hear itself.
Qi: the common wireless charging standard used by phone charging pads.
TR, AP, AC (table only): TechRadar, Android Police, Android Central.

Summary: the three Samsungs are the realistic choices. Each can open your voice app with a Home double-press, and each has a speaker and mic.
Android's rules allow an app to play on the watch speaker and record the mic at the same time. Messaging apps already make voice calls on Wear OS watches.
The TicWatch Pro 5 Enduro also qualifies, with a true single press. But it has no LTE and runs old software.
Pixel Watch 5 has the hardware. But no official button can open your app.
OnePlus Watch 4 and TicWatch Atlas: button support is not verified.
Main unknown: whether you can interrupt the assistant while it talks (talk-over) on a watch speaker. I found no published test. Echo cancellation varies by device.
AudioManager.getDevices() for TYPE_BUILTIN_SPEAKER. It says "most Wear OS devices have built-in speakers." Play audio on wearablesFOREGROUND_SERVICE_MICROPHONE and hold the RECORD_AUDIO permission. Foreground service typesAcousticEchoCanceler). It is built for voice chat and calls. But isAvailable() reports whether a device has one. So it depends on the watch. Android reference Whether each watch here has one: not verified.I found no direct head-to-head review from a major outlet. No outlet tested both side by side in one article that I could find.
Closest things that do exist:
Map Home double-press to your voice app. Samsung supports this officially. LTE works on Fi at no extra cost. One catch: it is a double-press, not a single press. Your voice app must be installed on the watch itself. The Watch 9 has a speaker and can make LTE calls, so the hardware is there for two-way voice. See the voice section.
Same official Home double-press. You also get a third button and the biggest battery. Mapping the Quick button to any app needs a sideloaded app. That is not verified on Ultra 2. It needs Samsung's own charger.
Same button setup with no LTE. It only works near your phone or on Wi-Fi. If you want true one-press (not double-press) and can skip LTE, the TicWatch Pro 5 Enduro has an official favorite-app button. But its software is old and today's price is not verified.
The sale ends tonight, October 11, 2026, at 11:59 PM PT. Holding the button opens Gemini, not your app. A sideloaded remapper might work. That is not verified on Pixel Watch 5. Buy it only if you are OK with that risk.
